Those who should attend: First District officers and chairmen, council presidents, school district superintendents, unit presidents, school principals, and any other board members from councils or units.
Make sure to have your superintendent and school administrators mark October 28th on their calendars for our Superintendents & Administrators Conference. We are excited to present an interactive workshop on the importance and strategies for using the Priority 3 Self-Reflection Tool: Parent Engagement.
Thanks to the passage of Assembly Bill 2878, sponsored by the California State PTA, research-based family engagement guidance and practice were added into the California Education Code. This change to the LCFF priorities provides schools, districts and parents access to research-based best practices for family engagement and involvement. Districts will use this self-reflection tool to reflect on its progress, successes, needs, and areas of growth in family engagement policies, programs, and practices. This tool will enable an LEA to engage in continuous improvement and determine the next steps to make improvements in the areas identified.
Our conference workshop will be led by Areceli Simeon, project director for the Parent Organization Network and member of the Ad Hoc committee that developed the tool for the California Department of Education.
